detective rpg update

Posted by Dustmasc - November 9th, 2015

Figured I should post an update because it has been a while since my last. I've kind of been putting this update off because I was hoping to be a little further on the game for it. I've just been hitting a few more snags than I expected but that's kind of the nature of making a game.

Anyways, I've been chipping away at the detective rpg; it's still in a very early stage but I have done quite a bit of the art assets. I've got a fair bit of tileset stuff and enemy art done. The stuff tripping me up is just set up and getting used to new tools but once I get past this first rough patch things should speed up quite a bit... until the next rough patch but that patch shouldn't be until closer to the end of development.

I've been wanting to show a bit of what I've been doing, so here's an enemy for you. This is the Counterfeiter:

That's a pretty neat idea. I guess this guy is a shopkeeper of some sort?

Thanks. This is an enemy. All the enemies are going to be criminals of some sort; this guy is selling counterfeit watches.

Looks great, keep up the good work. Don't give up! If you do, I'll find your home and let the air out of ONE tire on your car. If you have a car..

Thanks! I actually recently had a tire that was slowly losing air and somebody suggested that that might be happening. The tire eventually went flat but that might have been the culprit covering their tracks... Do you have access to a time machine?

Also you might want to check out haxe, openfl, and haxeflixel. I believe starling is ported to some degree on openfl, and shader support was just added for the non-flash targets (flash stage3d shaders are in the works in flixel). http://haxeflixel.com/documentation/as3-and-haxe-comparison/

I love haxe so feel free to pm me or anything if you have questions!

I'll look into it. I may end up sticking with starling because I have already started with it. I still haven't gotten that far so I'm not super committed but we'll see.
